Description

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry
  • Yellow onions
  • Gruyère cheese
  • Hot honey
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Fresh thyme
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Balsamic vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Thinly slice onions and sauté in olive oil or butter until deeply caramelized.
  3. Season onions with salt, pepper, and thyme; set aside.
  4. Cut puff pastry into rounds and chill briefly.
  5. On parchment, arrange onion rounds, top with grated Gruyère, then place pastry on top.
  6. Bake 20–25 minutes until pastry is puffed and deeply golden.
  7. Flip tarts, drizzle generously with hot honey, and garnish with fresh thyme.
