Description
A moist, cozy fall cake loaded with apples and walnuts, finished with a rich salted caramel frosting.
Ingredients
- Fresh apples (chopped)
- Walnuts (chopped)
- All-purpose flour
- Eggs
- Sugar (brown + white optional)
- Oil or melted butter
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Baking soda
- Baking powder
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
- Frosting: Butter
- Powdered sugar
- Salted caramel sauce
- Cream
Instructions
- Whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then gently add the chopped apples and walnuts.
- Pour the batter into a greased round pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar and salted caramel sauce, whipping until fluffy. Add a splash of cream if needed.
- Spread the frosting generously on the cooled cake.
- Drizzle extra salted caramel on top and sprinkle with walnuts before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the apples are well-drained if using canned apples.
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of brown and white sugar.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
