Description

A moist, cozy fall cake loaded with apples and walnuts, finished with a rich salted caramel frosting.


Ingredients

  • Fresh apples (chopped)
  • Walnuts (chopped)
  • All-purpose flour
  • Eggs
  • Sugar (brown + white optional)
  • Oil or melted butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Baking soda
  • Baking powder
  • Vanilla extract
  • Salt
  • Frosting: Butter
  • Powdered sugar
  • Salted caramel sauce
  • Cream

Instructions

  1. Whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then gently add the chopped apples and walnuts.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased round pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  5. For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar and salted caramel sauce, whipping until fluffy. Add a splash of cream if needed.
  6. Spread the frosting generously on the cooled cake.
  7. Drizzle extra salted caramel on top and sprinkle with walnuts before serving.
