A delicious fusion of two comfort classics—sloppy joes and grilled cheese—creating an ultra-gooey, crispy sandwich.
Ingredients

- 1 lb Ground beef
- 8 slices Sliced bread (thick-cut)
- 8 slices Sliced mozzarella or cheddar
- 4 tbsp Butter
- 1 Onion, diced
- 1 cup Tomato sauce or ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown ground beef with diced onion; drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce (or ketchup), Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; simmer until thick.
- Butter the outsides of the bread slices.
- Place cheese on the inside of each slice, spoon sloppy joe mixture over one side, then top with more cheese.
- Close sandwiches and grill butter-side down until golden and melty, flipping carefully.
- Press lightly for maximum gooeyness.
- Slice and serve hot with extra sloppy joe filling if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the sloppy joe mixture.
- Use a mix of cheeses for added flavor.
- Serve with pickles or chips on the side for a complete meal.
