Description

Silky layers of tender potatoes baked in garlicky cream with a golden, bubbling cheese crown—pure comfort food bliss.


Ingredients

  • Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • Heavy cream
  • Garlic
  • Gruyère or cheddar cheese
  • Butter
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Nutmeg (optional)
  • Olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and butter a large baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, gently warm cream with garlic, salt, pepper, herbs, and a pinch of nutmeg.
  3. Layer sliced potatoes evenly in the dish.
  4. Pour some warm cream over each layer, repeating until potatoes are used.
  5. Sprinkle Gruyère/cheddar and Parmesan on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 50–55 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  7. Uncover and bake for 20–25 minutes more until golden and bubbling; rest before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a mix of Gruyère and cheddar cheese.
