Description
A stunning multi-layer chocolate cake filled with whipped cream and cherries, finished with rich chocolate ganache and whole cherries.
Ingredients
- Chocolate cake layers
- Whipped cream filling
- Cherry compote or cherry filling
- Chocolate ganache or shaved chocolate
- Cocoa powder
- Sugar
- Flour
- Eggs
- Heavy cream
- Vanilla extract
- Kirsch/cherry liqueur (optional but classic)
- Fresh cherries
Instructions
- Bake two or three chocolate cake layers at 350°F; cool completely and level if needed.
- Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Spread cherry filling or compote over each cake layer, then add a thick layer of whipped cream.
- Stack layers and frost the outside lightly or leave as a semi-naked style.
- Pour smooth chocolate ganache over the top or coat with chocolate shavings.
- Pipe small whipped-cream swirls on top and place a fresh cherry on each.
- Chill 30 minutes before slicing for clean layers.
Notes
- Ensure the cake layers are completely cool before frosting.
- For a richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder.
- Kirsch can enhance the cherry flavor but is optional.
