Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 3/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Baking powder

  • Sanding sugar (red & green)

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix into a soft dough.
  3. Divide dough into three portions: leave one plain, color one red, and one green.
  4. Roll each color into equal rectangles; stack red → white → green, then roll into a tight log.
  5. Chill the log 30–45 minutes until firm.
  6. Slice into ¼-inch pinwheels, dip edges in sanding sugar, and place on a parchment-lined sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes until set but not browned.
