Instructions
- Slice potatoes thinly and boil briefly until just tender; drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, then whisk in flour to form a roux.
- Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened; season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Stir in shredded cheddar until smooth and melted.
- In a baking dish, layer potatoes, ham, and cheese sauce.
- Repeat layers, finishing with extra cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned.
