Ingredients

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice potatoes thinly and boil briefly until just tender; drain.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter, then whisk in flour to form a roux.
  3. Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened; season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar until smooth and melted.
  5. In a baking dish, layer potatoes, ham, and cheese sauce.
  6. Repeat layers, finishing with extra cheese on top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned.
