Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook tortellini according to package directions; drain.
  3. In a skillet, sauté onion in olive oil, add garlic, then brown the beef or sausage; season well.
  4. Stir marinara into the meat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In the baking dish, layer tortellini, meat sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella.
  6. Repeat layers and finish with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden; rest for 5 minutes before serving.
