- 1 package refrigerated cheese tortellini
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ricotta or cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cook tortellini according to package directions; drain.
- In a skillet, sauté onion in olive oil, add garlic, then brown the beef or sausage; season well.
- Stir marinara into the meat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In the baking dish, layer tortellini, meat sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella.
- Repeat layers and finish with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden; rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
- Add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
- Use low-fat cheese for a healthier version.
