Description

Moist chocolate cake squares drenched in glossy fudge sauce and topped with juicy, syrupy cherries.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup cherries (fresh or canned in syrup)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk (for chocolate sauce)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, eggs, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Stir in flour and baking powder; fold in half the cherries.
  4. Pour batter into the pan and bake 25–30 minutes until set.
  5. In a saucepan, heat chocolate chips and cream until glossy and smooth for the sauce.
  6. Pour warm chocolate sauce over cooled cake squares.
  7. Top generously with remaining cherries and serve warm or chilled.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
  • Can substitute fresh cherries with canned cherries in syrup.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
